This Saturday my wife son and I attended the book signing of author Ginny Rorby (Hurt Go Happy). My wife and I fell in love with her latest book about a deaf girl and a sign language using chimpanzee.
I was so happy to get to meet Ginny in person. We’ve corresponded through e-mails for a bit and she is a wonderful and humble as can be. She was clearly grateful and loving to the large group who came to see her.
I made (and wore) one of my wooden neckties and ended up gifting it to her. It had a chimpanzee waving the sign language (ever famous at rock concerts) “I love you” sign, with floating hearts.
I was honored that she decided to wear it during her reading.
